Experience Highlights:

  • Management Consultant dba JRM Enterprises. Served over thirty public and private sector clients in the areas of leadership and management development; executive and employee coaching; teambuilding; strategic planning; instructional design and facilitation; third party mediation; human resource audits; program evaluation; human resource policy manuals/employee handbooks; customer service and employee opinion survey design and evaluation; performance management and reward systems; and organizational culture analysis and change. Develop and conduct training programs on a variety of topics including: management and leadership development, effective communication, cultural diversity, teambuilding, and time and stress management.
  • Adjunct Faculty and Part-Time Faculty Positions: Develop and teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses on-line and in the classroom on general management, human relations; organizational communication; human resource management; human resource development; recruitment; organization development and change; cultural diversity; consulting and a variety of other subjects. Mentored new instructors and served as advisor to students.
  • Human Resource Manager. GTE: A generalist position performing full service HR function for the Western Region (1100 employees). Functions performed included: recruitment; orientation; training; employee relations; compensation and benefits administration; and organization development. Days-to-fill statistics were significantly less than peer numbers. Investigated and resolved employee relations issues including sexual harassment, substance abuse and supervisory complaints. Co-chaired employment task force to rewrite and implement improved recruitment and selection policies and practices adopted for national use.
  • Director of Human Resource Administration, Wherehouse Entertainment, Inc. Promoted from Personnel Services Manager after six months to this executive position that provided oversight to the total HR function (5000 employees - five states). Supervised 15 HR professionals; upgraded the HR department to more effectively serve the needs of line managers and other key stakeholders; conducted internal customer service surveys, improved payroll administration, technical recruiting, and supervisory training programs. Instituted Wherehouse University. Investigated and resolved several sexual harassment complaints and employee relations issues. Wrote personnel policies and procedures and employee handbook.
  • Personnel Officer/Executive Officer. USAF. (Various locations including overseas). Managed base personnel operations, headquarters staffing and civilian personnel programs including grievance resolution, job classification, technical and administrative staffing, awards and suggestions programs, base-wide training, performance evaluations, separations and retirements, and disciplinary actions. Promoted to captain and decorated for leadership, achievement and meritorious service.
